Please accept this correspondence as an expression of the gratitude of Milwaukee County for the important work of your company. A recent review by the Milwaukee County Department of Audit concluded that Milwaukee County has saved in excess of $30 million due directly to your work to restructure Milwaukee County’s health insurance contract as well as other initiatives sponsored by your company.

I also write this letter to thank you for your efforts in the recent federal litigation concluded by Milwaukee County against its former actuary, William Mercer, Inc. You personally served as an expert adviser who sifted through the incredibly complex material and offered clarity in this case. Your work was performed admirably and at great personal risk to yourself. I have never seen an individual suffer for such a complete assault on their character as you were subjected to during this case. Rest assured, all of these attacks proved baseless as the truth of your important work for the United States government and other clients was clearly established.

Unfortunately, much of the mud thrown in this litigation wound up in reports in our local media and on blogs. During the trial, it became clear to me that many of the entries providing commentary to the trail were proffered by organized sources rather than from random individuals making “observations.” I admire your resilience in pushing forward in your representation of Milwaukee County’s interest in the face of such assault. Your effort assisted Milwaukee County in receiving one of the largest monetary settlements with an actuary in United States history.
